Therabands, chi balls and fitballs (swiss balls) are great tools to enhance your Pilates practice, but do they wear out? Balls and bands do not have a specific life expectancy or shelf life but bands particularly do tend to wear with use. Obviously if you are using or storing your small equipment on or near abrasive surfaces the wear and tear will show much more quickly. Where possible try to hang bands, and store balls in a lined basket or smooth box or container. Fitballs can easily be stacked on plastic fishing reels. Try to avoid storing your equipment in direct sunlight. Check everything regularly for nicks, holes or tears in the bands, and for holes, cracks and deflation of the balls.
