March MATness

Wow!  With all the madness of March MATness it’s been some time since I’ve been able to add anything to the blog.  Wondering what March MATness is?  It’s an annual celebration of Joseph Pilates’ work in its original form as explained in his book Return to Life through Contrology – Contrology was what Joe called his exercise regime, it only became known as Pilates after his death in 1967.

March MATness is the brainchild of Benjamin Degenhardt (360 Pilates), who started March MATness back in 2013. He was filming himself so he could watch the video with the intention of correcting form, and for self assessment. From the videos Benjamin extracted screen shots…and so it began.

March MATness has now grown into an amazing social media campaign. Pilates enthusiasts from around the world participate by posting pictures, sharing inspirational stories, telling the world how they love Pilates and what it means to them. It’s a great way for the Pilates community to unite and just have fun.

This year for the first year I thought I would join the movement (no pun intended).  If you would like to see the exercises go to my Facebook page and starting from 1 March 2019 you’ll find an exercise (sometimes two) for every day in March giving you the entire set of original Contrology exercises.  https://www.facebook.com/pilatesatwellingtonpoint/
